Quality State Oil Co. takes great pride in their community and enjoy the opportunity to give time and money where it is needed. Our chosen focus is Muscular Dystrophy and all the great work the association does for those in need.
Sheboygan, Wis. – Aug. 31, 2016 – CITGO Petroleum Marketer Quality State Oil raised more than $28,000 for the Green Bay Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during its 27th annual Quality State Oil/CITGO MDA Golf Challenge. On July 13, Quality State Oil and MDA hosted golfers and MDA family ambassadors at Quit Qui OC Golf Club in Elkhart Lake, Wis., to tee off for a great cause and enjoy special events and prizes.
“We are so proud to have completed the 27th year of the Quality State Oil/CITGO MDA Golf Challenge,” said Scott Stangel, wholesale marketing manager for Quality State Oil. “Together with the continued support of CITGO and our many corporate sponsors, we have been able to accomplish so much for this worthy cause over the years. We are thankful for the opportunity to help those affected by neuromuscular diseases in our community and hope to continue to benefit local families for many years to come.”
As part of the event, participants enjoyed 18 holes of golf, refreshments throughout the day, a Sheboygan Brat Fry, prize raffles and live and silent auctions. The event also sold 11 $800 Gifts of Hope, which provide scholarships for MDA recipients to attend summer camp.
The annual Quality State Oil/CITGO MDA Golf Challenge benefits families in the Sheboygan area who are dealing with the challenges associated with muscular disease. The funds raised directly support local clinics, care programs and support groups for children and adults coping with neuromuscular diseases.
Quality State Oil has raised nearly $60,000 for MDA this year, donating more than $1,000,000 for MDA over the course of its 27-year association.
As MDA’s largest corporate sponsor, CITGO and its employees, along with its network of locally-owned Marketers, such as Quality State Oil, and Retailers, are celebrating a 30-year partnership that has raised nearly $200 million for the nonprofit health organization since CITGO and the MDA began working together in 1986.
About MDA
MDA is leading the fight to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases that take away physical strength, independence and life. We use our collective strength to help kids and adults live longer and grow stronger by finding research breakthroughs across diseases; caring for individuals from day one; and empowering families with services and support in hometowns across America. Quality State Oil celebrated its 26 year association with Muscular Dystrophy by hosting its annual golf outing July 15th at Quit Qui Oc Golf Course in Elkhart Lake. The event again raised nearly $40,000 for Muscular Dystrophy. This contribution will go toward support of research to find a cure to neuromuscular disease, funding for special equipment to improve the quality of life for MDA clients, and provide scholarships for kids to attend MDA summer camp. For the 26th consecutive year Quality State Oil and its partners stepped up to fight this crippling disease.
Golfers were greeted by Miss Wisconsin Rosalie Smith, MDA state Goodwill Ambassador Jacob Smith, and special guest Reagan Imhoff MDA National Goodwill Ambassador. Throughout the day all in
attendance were treated to special games on the course, contests, food and beverages. After golf both a silent and live auction, and raffle were held to generate additional funds.
Outing chairman Scott Stangel said, “I want to thank everyone who attended. Without them taking time out of their busy schedule, this event wouldn’t be the success it is.” Stangel went on
to say, “One of the signature parts of this event is the Gift of Hope live auction. This year 15 MDA summer camp scholarships were sold at $800 each. The generosity of those in attendance is
overwhelming and heartfelt.”
